Welcome to Daida L'Orange!

After a long break, I am back to creating my hand knits. I have missed the process of creating and have decided to expand my shop offerings. For now, I will be adding scarves and cowls for adults. In time, I will have my son add his hand knit scarves.

The idea of a shop came about when I was pregnant with my son. My third child. I wanted a creative outlet and remember the joy I had when I first learned to knit as a teenager.

How did I come up with this name? Well, when my first daughter was learning to speak, one of her first words was "daida". In her language, that meant "rock" or "stone". Orange was her favourite colour. She is now 16 years old.

I have three children. My other daughter is now 15 years old and my son is 14. He is my hat model you see in my Avatar and throughout the site and has started to knit scarves.

I specialize in creating and designing unique hand knit newborn photography props. I design all of my own patterns (some of which take months to develop), including color combinations.

I believe that every photo should tell a story. As a photographer, I strive to have my photos "speak" to the world through expressions captured, colour, texture, and composition. That is why I knit all of my creations with the finest hand dyed yarns I can find from wonderful people here on Etsy.
